【CSW Event】Rainbow Trauma: Exploring the Emotional Trauma and Transformation of Gender Diverse Students 🌈

In response to the prevalent subtle discrimination/discrimination and sexual violence, as well as the crisis and trauma rampant in the intertwined situations on campus, there is a need for in-depth dialogue on diverse gender psychological issues. Student gender clubs at National Taiwan University (NTU) jointly organize the "Rainbow Trauma: Exploring the Emotional Trauma and Transformation of Gender Diverse Students" full-day forum, in collaboration with the Center for Student Well-Being, to discuss the relationship between diverse genders and consulting systems and areas for improvement.

✦ Session 1: Diverse Gender and Campus Context ✦ (09:00-12:00)

 

Speakers: Ciwang Teyra (Associate Professor, NTU Department of Social Work), Yao Hui-yao (Manager, Taiwan Gender Equality Education Association)

 

This session will delve into the experiences of subtle discrimination faced by gender diverse individuals on campus and their intersectionality, as well as the necessity of establishing a friendly campus from the perspective of discrimination against gender diverse students. By analyzing the campus experiences of gender diverse students, we will explore the necessity of building a friendly campus, advocating for joint efforts to establish a more inclusive campus environment, enabling every student to receive full dignity and support in their learning and growth.

 

 

✦ Session 2: Diverse Gender and Trauma Recovery ✦ (13:00-15:30)

 

Moderator: Hsieh Wan-jung (Assistant Professor, NTU Department of Social Work)

 

Speakers: Lin Bo-cong (Director, Snack Talk Counseling Center/ Counseling Psychologist), Xu Xiao-ting (Social Worker, LIHKG Foundation Anti-Multiple Discrimination Gender Violence Prevention Center)

 

This session will deeply discuss the challenges faced by gender diverse individuals in society and the impact of these challenges on their mental health, as well as how to accompany gender diverse trauma survivors through the path of recovery. The content will introduce the multiple discrimination that gender diverse individuals may encounter, and through sharing of practical cases, explore the reality of psychological trauma experienced by gender diverse individuals. The goal of this session is to help participants gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by gender diverse individuals, understand the causes of trauma and the process of recovery, and understand the importance of trauma awareness in a friendly environment.

 

 

✦ Session 3: Exploring the Establishment of a More Gender Diverse Campus Consulting System from the Perspective of School Structure and Help Systems ✦ (15:30-17:30)

Speakers: Wu Zheng-ting (Chairman, Taiwan Gender Equality Education Association), Zhong Dao-quan (Associate Professor, Soochow University Department of Social Work), Qiao Hong (Assistant Professor, National Taiwan Normal University Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling), Lin Bo-cong (Director, Heart Tell Counseling Center), Wang Pei-gen (Campus Advisor, NTUCSW)

 

In this forum conducted in a Q&A format, in addition to sharing professional observations by multiple speakers, audience members will exchange experiential stories. We will also discuss how to establish a comprehensive support network for gender diverse students in education and consulting at all levels from the perspective of school structure and help systems. Speakers and moderators will share their professional knowledge and experience in gender equality education and consulting on gender diverse issues, and propose suggestions and strategies for strengthening support for gender diverse students on campus.
